Today the Mahopac CSD celebrated its Library Media Specialists and Library Aides. They offer essential support to our students in finding the resources they need to further their education and have made excellent use of the District's many new library spaces to benefit students.
Reminder that parents, guardians, and community members are invited to attend the "D is for Dyslexia" presentation on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Mahopac High School.

The Mahopac CSD is pleased to provide free Universal Pre Kindergarten (UPK ) to 148 families through a random lottery. Deadline to apply for the lottery is April 12, 2024.

Five MHS students joined over 700 other students from across Westchester and Putnam County to showcase graduate-level science research projects at the 2024 Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair. Their projects won four awards after months or even years of hard work.
MMS students recently enjoyed a visit from author of books such as "Last Summer in Outer Space", Joshua S. Levy. The prolific author told students about how he wrote his first unpublished book when he was in sixth grade, and that it's never too early or too late to start writing.
Congratulations to our young actors at Mahopac Middle School who put on an incredible performance of Newsies Jr. this past weekend. The cast sang favorites including "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," and "Santa Fe" in this timeless story full of spirit and heart.
Some of Mahopac Middle School's bright young writers visited PNW BOCES today to attend the Young Authors Middle Level Colloquium. Students participated in workshops and met other young writers from around the region, working together to exercise and share their creativity.
Tonight, the Mahopac CSD Board of Education will hold a regular board meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Mahopac High School Auditorium. Superintendent Christine Tona will host Community Connections at 6:30 p.m. outside the MHS auditorium, before the board meeting.
Austin Road fourth-grade students got a sweet lesson all about maple sugaring this week. Educators at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center took full advantage of the beautiful weather to get students out and exploring the center. Check out the photos of their trip!

The Mahopac Central School District is happy to announce that Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) will be offered for the 2024-2025 school year. UPK will provide free full-day pre-kindergarten to 148 children selected through a lottery. Eligible children are those who will be eligible for kindergarten in the 2025-2026 school year. We are able to provide this free UPK program through State Aid that can only be used for this purpose which results in no cost to taxpayers. While additional information will be provided next week, here is the timeline for next steps in the creation of the UPK program:
- March 19, 2024: MCSD Board Meeting to approve UPK providers.
- March 20, 2024: Information will be shared with a link to apply for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Lottery Entry Form. This link will also be on the District website.
- April 5, 2024: Deadline for completing the Lottery Entry Form.
- April 8, 2024: At 9 a.m. a drawing will be conducted at Mahopac Falls School in the auditorium and will be live-streamed on the District website. Parents are welcome to attend the drawing on this date. All applicants will be notified of whether their child is selected through the lottery or placed on a waitlist.

One School One Book has begun at Fulmar Road Elementary. Principal Gary Chadwick went from class to class on Friday delivering the book that the whole school will be reading together, "Life According to Og the Frog" while dressed as the book's main character, Og!
This week is School Social Workers Week and the Mahopac Central School District is deeply grateful for the invaluable contributions of its School Social Workers. They are critical figures in the lives of our students and serve the community every day. Mahopac Middle School's eighth grade class had a unique opportunity to hear from some special guest speakers today at the Career Spotlight Guest Speaker Event. Students heard from Mahopac residents who work in sports medicine, counseling, audio and video, and more.
Austin Road's Kindergarten class got together with Vice Principal Michelle Tween and Principal Bryan Gilligan this morning for a townhall that was all about trying new things by asking a simple question, "What if?"
