A wave of excitement swept through Mahopac High School as students took the stage from Dec. 12-14 for Illusion 2024, the school’s 42nd annual student-led rock and pop concert. The atmosphere was electric, with students, teachers, families and community members filling the auditorium, all eager to cheer on the high-energy performances.
The three-night event showcased a dynamic mix of students, with performances spanning from alternative rock to pop hits and country. The talented musicians, along with the dedicated sound and lighting crew, delivered a thrilling show that captivated the audience from start to finish.
Mia Obijiski, a senior who performed a rendition of “Rumour Has It” by Adele shared how the night went.
“This was an incredible opportunity to showcase all the hard work we’ve put into our performances,” Obijiski said. “It’s amazing to see how everyone came together to create something this special. Illusion is one of the few places that give me an outlet to show my passion for music.”
Mahopac Superintendent of Schools Christine Tona expressed her enthusiasm for the performances.
“Illusion never disappoints,” Tona said. “I am so proud of all of our talented students who performed on stage or supported the production behind the scenes. Special thanks to our staff members who guided our amazing students to showcase their abilities and work together to create a truly unforgettable experience.”
In addition to the musical celebration, Illusion 2024 also served as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life, with proceeds going to support cancer research and community outreach. Attendees also generously donated toys for the district’s annual Toys for Tots drive, adding to the concert’s spirit of giving.
Illusion 2024 highlighted the exceptional musical talents of Mahopac High School students and demonstrated their ability to collaborate, inspire and make a meaningful impact in their community.
