In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, students from Austin Road Elementary School and Lakeview Elementary School brought nonperishable food donations to school, where they filled up school buses to be delivered to St. John the Evangelist Food Pantry in Mahopac.
“Stuff the Bus, sponsored by our Lakeview and Austin Road PTOs, has become a cherished tradition in our school communities,” Lakeview Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Blessing said. “It’s heartwarming to see our students’ excitement as they bring in donations, demonstrating their kindness and generosity. This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for our entire school community to come together and make a meaningful impact.”
Austin Road Elementary School Principal Bryan Gilligan expressed gratitude toward all families who donated items for the food drive.
“St. John Food Pantry was delighted to receive all the donations from our community,” Gilligan said. “We also want to extend our gratitude to the parent volunteers who assisted in collecting and delivering the donations to the pantry.”
